Join us in shaping policies that enhance water, sanitation, and hygiene services across Zambia.
Our ongoing campaigns aim to transform Zambia’s water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector by pushing for inclusive policies and effective implementation. We collaborate with local communities, NGOs, and government stakeholders to ensure access to clean water and sanitation is recognized as a fundamental human right.
Constitutional recognition of the Human Right to Water and Sanitation (HRtWS).
Climate-resilient infrastructure development in rural areas
Clear and enforceable policy and legal frameworks.
The Forum has developed comprehensive policy recommendations based on in-depth research and stakeholder consultations. These target four key areas:
Legislation & Regulation: Revise the Water Supply and Sanitation Act, integrate HRtWS into the Bill of Rights.
Sustainable Service Delivery: Strengthen planning, build community capacity, and climate-proof WASH infrastructure.
Financing: Increase national WASH budget, unlock private investments, and ensure transparency.
Accountability: Promote human rights-based approaches, inclusive participation, and public access to WASH information.
We collaborate with the Parliamentary Caucus on WASH to ensure legislative support for water and sanitation improvements.
Enabling dialogue between NGOs and lawmakers as well as advocating for parliamentary support for key reforms such as the Water Development Fund and HRtWS constitutional inclusion.
To strengthen political commitment and increase focus on climate-resilient WASH investments, further proposing for 10% of the CDF to support WASH at the local level.
Our Forum mobilizes Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to demand accountability and drive lasting change through evidence-based advocacy.
Lobbying for inclusive planning and performance monitoring; Campaigns supporting sanitation in prisons, schools, and cholera hotspots and Training communities to hold service providers accountable.
Institutionalize Human Rights-Based Approaches across ministries and Integrate WASH into broader development sectors like health, education, and climate adaptation.
